Were you aware that since 1994, June has been celebrated as Men's Health Awareness Month?  It's true.  Just ask Melissa Guay of the Pulizter Prize winning Post Star media group in New York, who recently published an article outlining a few important health tips that men should be privy to.  Among those health tips are the following:

1. Get a physical regularly - You may not like it, but a regular physical checkup can be a life saving event.

2. Keep your physician apprised of your family medical history as it occurs - New conditions may arise in your parents or siblings that you weren't aware were a part of your family's medical "history."  These may include heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, cancers, and other conditions.  It is important to keep your physician up to speed so they can examine you for potential threats.

3. Check your cholesterol levels - It's easy for cholesterol levels to sneak up on you as you age.  Make sure you are checking your levels and keeping them down.

4. Get fit/Stay fit - proper diet and exercise can help prevent very terrible health conditions including some cancers, and can significantly improve your quality of life.

I'm going to add one more health tip to those already mentioned, purchase a bean bag chair.  Why? Yep! It's true!  Now even kangaroos are using bean bag chairs.  In Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Irwin the kangaroo has been in rehab at the Wild heart Ranch.  Recently he was provided with a bean bag chair to help in muscle development!  Irwin also is able to watch his favorite cartoon, Sponge Bob Squarepants, from the comfort of his bean bag chair.
